Lordi is a Finnish hardrock band from Rovaniemi. How can you recognize them : actually that's quite simple. They're known for their monster costumes, that Mr Lordi makes himself. They look angry but they won't harm you ;)

It all started in 1992. Mr Lordi brought a demo out : Napalm Market. It wasn't a big hit. There was a concert of KISS in Sweden (1996). Mr Lordi met 2 other members there : Mr Amen (guitar) & Mr G-Stealer (bass). Mr Amen's character is a mummy and Mr G-Stealer was an alien. That was the first formation of Lordi. In 1997 the guys received female company : Ms Enary (keyboard). Her character was a valkyrie.

In 1999 they made their first cd : Bend Over And Pray The Lord. They didn't have a record company so they couldn't release it. In that same year it was enough for G-Stealer and Magnum (cyborg) came in his place.

In 2000 they welcomed a new member, Kita (a manbeast-alien), the drummer of the band.

In 2002 they received a record deal from BMG Finland with their first single : Would You Love a Monsterman. In that year they also brougt out the cd Get Heavy, it was a big success. After that cd-release Magnum was replaced by Kalma, a biker zombie.

In 2005 some other member got replaced. Enary & Kalma were replaced by Awa (a vampire countess) & OX (a hellbull). This formation is still the same.

2006 was a very important year for the band. They took part of the Eurovision Songcontest in Athens and they won, which the popularity gained. Then the new cd, The Arockalypse (which they had released earlier), sold very good. They went on tour through whole Europe.

In 2008 they worked on a secret project : a movie named Dark Floors. The story is about Sarah. She is an autistic little girl whose father is worried about her health. Concerned for her, the father sees a removal from the hospital by force as the only option. An elevator break-down prevents a smooth exit and renders them trapped with others. Yet the incident is only the beginning of a descent into nightmare. As the doors open the hospital appears mysteriously deserted. When mutilated bodies are found, creatures from a dark world start a frightening attack. It soon becomes clear that the survival of the group may rest solely on Sarah.

Now they are even known in America.
